Alright guys: Do we want to have two projects or rather one big one that counts 25%?

Intensive study of selected topics from the literature or practice of communication. Topics will vary each semester. Content will be drawn from areas not dealt with in the regular curriculum. For the spring semester, 2008, TCOM 690 "Seminar in Communication," will examine the 2008 United States presidential election campaign and the impact that media, particularly new media, has on the process.

Honestly....I would like to go for one big project, even if it counts 25%. It gives us more time to pursue it and i am sure we can split the duties very well since we have so many different areas of expertise in this course.
I'm voting for 1 also. I think our class as a whole offers a LOT of talent and I really believe that we could put together a great project that would look good on all our portfolios. It would be cool to be able to submit a video (if we chose) to festivals also.
It seems it'd be profitable to some students to have 1 major project. I'm feelin' that idea for the most part. We need to start having production meetings immediately.
We'll need to decide on a format and goals and then I think we should all be required to make a pitch for the project (unless Professor Pollard has a plan already). That way everyone has to pitch no matter how 'bad' they think their idea may be...at very least it could provide a point of departure.
The sooner the better. Everyone knows everyone's strengths for the most part, but I'm best at lighting, photography and rigging/troubleshooting. I'm likely weakest in my storytelling ideas...thus my serious departure from post a year or so back.
We need to organize this and produce a backwards planning sequence as soon as possible. We have something like two months left to deliver a final project so we should set weekly goals starting Tuesday.
Plan to meet outside of class a lot too. Perhaps we can get a classroom on an evenings so we can have a whiteboard and projector.
My available nights are
Sunday: after 5
Monday: open
Tuesday: meet me at dill where we'll inspire some of the finest academic dialog to grace this fine town
Wed: open
Thur: after 4:30
Fri: open (but not this week)
Sat: eah, no.
I think we’d all do better with one big project- knowing this group of students- we’ll put a ton of time in on it regardless, and with everyone working together bringing in their areas of expertise- I think we’ll have something fantastic.
I volunteer to help with the final product to turn in at the end. I think the entire thing should have one overall look and feel. (I’ll also do some sort of interactive, as well)
Monday-Thursday works well for me. I can re-arrange my schedule to fit most times…
I am usually free whenever
except Wednesday 12-3pm and Friday 1-2pm where I have firm obligations.
Other than that I would let you know if I have something coming up....
I agree with Brian. If we are going to do one large project, we need to start backtiming ASAP.
Hey, yeah, cool. Okay.
One, for sure.
I'll post this to the e-mail list, too, but why don't we shoot for some sort of a television program with an associated Web site?
